Malvern Mayor raises more than £5,000 for Acorns Children's Hospice

THE MAYOR of Malvern has raised more than £5,000 for the Acorns Children’s Hospice after helping out in various and unexpected settings.

Coun Cynthia Palmer took part in the Rent-the-Mayor scheme which saw her raise a total of £5,604 for the hospice – £887.16 of that had been raised in March alone.

Throughout Rent-the-Mayor, Coun Palmer has helped make coffee in Costa, served lunch in DELIcious, served books at the Co-op Bookstore, packed shopping at Waitrose as well as providing customer service at Barnard’s Green Post Office and Santander.

She also had ‘story time’ with children at Little Oaks Day Nursery and spent last Sunday with those at Lansdowne Methodist Church.

Coun Palmer has been doing this because when she was elected Mayor, she had set herself a target of £5,000 to be raised during her Mayoral year.

She said: “I am delighted to have achieved my target to raise £5,000 for Acorn’s.

“However, I could not have done this without the help of the businesses who let me work along side them and the generosity of the lovely people of Malvern.”
