Malvern Mencap urgently seeking volunteers

Malvern Editorial 4th Apr, 2017 Updated: 4th Apr, 2017   0

VOLUNTEERS are being sought by Malvern Mencap to help run their community day services.

The day events are provided by Heart of England Mencap which supports people with learning disabilities across Worcestershire and Warwickshire.

Malvern Mencap brought its ‘Mencap Pathway’ activity group to town at the end of last year.

Pathway runs five days a week but the charity is on the look-out for volunteers so more can be offered.

Services manager Ben Davies said: “Pathway is all about focusing on abilities and not disabilities, providing meaningful activities like cooking, crafting, woodwork, music, drama, gardening and even tai chi.

“All of this builds confidence, skills and friendships and that’s hugely important to our charity.

“What’s just as important is enabling activities in the community for our customers too, and we are looking for volunteers who can help support us in that; assisting on trips outs and helping to build our on-site Pathway activities too, all skills and ideas are welcome.

“You don’t need any experience, come and learn with our customers and make a real difference to local lives.

“Pathway is full of smiles, and it’s hugely rewarding.”
