MALVERN residents can help shape the town’s future by taking part in a workshop designed to allow people to have their say on housing allocations.
The session is being run by Malvern’s Neighbourhood Planning Design Group to discuss what residents want to see in new housing sites for the town.
It takes place tomorrow (Friday, January 8) at Great Malvern Library between 10am and 1pm.
Malvern’s future housing numbers and sites are being determined by the South Worcestershire Development Plan, which is close to being finalised.
Residents cannot change the plan but can get involved to influence the design of the sites and the houses within them.
Neighbourhood Plans allow local communities to shape new development and this is your opportunity to get involved.
Recently Malvern town councillor Patrick Mewton said it was vital for the town to develop a Neighbourhood Plan strategy.
Responding to plans to build a new 800-home development in Newland, he said: “I realise that we are unlikely to be able to stop the development but we can influence how it takes place and what happens within it. To do this though we need a Neighbourhood Plan in place.”
