Council to offer advice on protecting your home against criminals

MALVERN Hills District Council is setting up events across the region to heed advice for residents on keeping their homes and properties safe from crime.

The drop in sessions will offer information on a wide range of preventative security measures to reduce the likelihood of being a victim of theft or burglary.

Trained officers from the council’s Community Safety Team will answer questions on crime prevention and offer tips on maximizing a homeowners chances of having stolen property rightfully returned.

Items covered at the event include physical home security measures for doors, windows, locks, CCTV, perimeter security including hedges, fencing, and lighting, and a free home property marking service.

The sessions will be held on Thursday, February 29 at The Pump Rooms Tenbury Wells and Thursday, March 21 at Hanley Swan Village Hall. Both events from 5pm to 7pm.

Councillor Natalie McVey, responsible for community safety at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “These events are a great way to raise community awareness, give advice and practical tips, and help reduce the fear of crime.




“The Malvern Hills District is a low crime district, and we want to keep it that way.”

Further property security events are expected in April.


The council also offer free bike security marking, the next drop in marking events take place at Malvern Vale Community Centre on February 15 (10am to 12pm), and at The Octagon Centre on February 16 (9.30am to 11am).
