Malvern Police officers to get e-bikes to use when patrolling the hills

Malvern Editorial 4th Dec, 2021   0

THE POLICE are to get new e-bikes that will be used to patrol the hills after the collaboration of the Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion and the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Partnership (MHAONB).

In a bid to support local Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) officers, the new additions will allow officers to be more visible and accessible to communities, whilst reducing the impact of policing on the environment.

Mr Campion said: “I have listened to the communities when they said they wanted to see their officers more visible within their community, and there is no doubt that this bike will help do that.”

Paul Esrich, manager of the Malvern Hills AONB team added: “We want to encourage people to enjoy the outdoors in a safe and responsible way.

“Our sustainable development fund supports projects which make a difference to the wildlife, heritage and communities of the Malvern Hills Area of Natural Beauty and we’re really pleased that, along with the Police and Crime Commissioner, we are able to provide a grant towards an e-bike for our local police.”
