A POLITICS student was treated to a ‘truly fantastic’ trip to Westminster as part of a week’s work experience.
Jennifer Elsey, a Year 12 pupil at Malvern St James School, was given tours of the House of Commons and Lords, watched Prime Minister’s Questions and shadowed Malvern MP Harriett Baldwin during her work in Westminster.
The 17-year-old is currently studying economics, politics, Spanish and music and stood as the Conservative candidate at the school’s mock elections last month.
Jennifer said: “My time in Westminster was a wonderful experience and every moment in the busy day was fascinating.
“It has given me a real insight to what life in politics is really like and it has reinforced my dream of working in politics.
“I thoroughly enjoyed it and I will certainly remember it as a truly fantastic experience.”
Mrs Baldwin, West Worcestershire MP, added: “I am keen to encourage young people to engage in politics and I hope Jennifer is inspired by this week of work experience to go on to get more involved.”
