MALVERN will be next town to show support for their LGBTQ+ community at their upcoming pride event.
The town centre is already awash with rainbow flags as the town gears up for this year’s Malvern Pride on Saturday July, 29 in Priory Park.
The park will be full of entertainment, children’s activities, food stalls and drink stands from 12 noon to 6pm.
LGBTQ+ allies in the neighbouring towns of Malvern Link and Barnards Green will also show their support by flying pride flags.
Organisations sponsoring the event include Malvern Hills District Council, Malvern Panalytical, John Goodwin, Malvern World Travel, Friar Street Insurance Consultants, Qinetiq, Worcestershire Ambassadors and Will Thomas Coaching and Therapy.
Malvern Pride will be free to attend with organisers thanking purchasers of official merchandise for helping make the event free and accessible for all.
Hundreds attended last years Malvern Pride event as it returned after a two year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Malvern Pride committee member and Malvern Town Councillor, Nick Houghton said: “Some ask why it is still necessary to have Pride events but it is important as ever that inclusion and diversity is at the forefront of everyone.
“The event supports the local community in many ways, including bringing more people into Malvern and spending in the local economy.
“This is very much a family event and everyone is welcome.
“We are hoping for great weather but either way a great local event for the local community.”
