A PRIMARY school in Malvern is celebrating the opening of its new outdoor classroom to extend the curriculum into the outdoors.

St James’ C of E Primary School, already offers their pupils regular walks on the hills and forest school sessions but are delighted the new classroom will expand students’ nature experiences.

The project was funded by the school’s parent teacher association (PTA), with fundraising activities including cake sales, second hand uniform sales, discos and a summer fair.

Local carpenter Prince Moyo, known as Carpentry Prince, took on the project and created a new outdoor space for learning.

Kate Lindon from the school’s PTA said, “As a PTA we try to fundraise for things to enhance the children’s experiences at St James.

“We’re so lucky to have a school based in such a beautiful location on The Malverns that it only seemed fitting to create something to make more of our fantastic outdoor space. We can’t wait to see how it’s used.”

A grand opening for the classroom will be taking place today (Friday, September 20) at 2.30pm with outdoor activities and food and drink made from apples from the school’s yard.
