THE CEREMONIAL switch-on of Malvern Rotary Club’s Tree of Light took place this week in Priory Park.
Coun Chris O’Donnell, chairman of the district council, was the guest of honour for Monday’s event.
The two main charities to benefit this year are St Richard’s Hospice and Malvern Heartstart as well as other causes such as Acorns Children’s Hospice and What Makes You Different Makes You Beautiful.
During the year, the rotary club’s presidents Sandy Gibson has seen support for shelterboxes, vital equipment to the victims of the hurricanes in the Caribbean and Myanmar refugees.
Also, Rotary International campaign to eradicate polio in the world has benefitted from the annual pancake race, with £700 donated to End Polio Now.
It is still not too late to make donations to remember a loved one who has passed away.
