MALVERN residents can test their strength and try out some new activities as part of Freedom Leisure’s Family Fun Day this weekend.
The doors of Sport Dyson Perrins, on Yates Hay Road, are being thrown open for free on Saturday from 12pm to 3.30pm as part of efforts to encourage people to get out and get active.
There will be opportunities to take part in a range of activities including archery, martial arts, tennis, netball and a flash mob dance session.
Visitors can also make use of the gym and there will be indoor activities and games put on by the centre along with face painting and bouncy castles.
Those up for putting their strength to the test can also enter a team in the tug of war competition with the chance to win prizes including vouchers for activities and a month’s free membership.
There will be two competitions for young people aged five to 15 and those aged 16-and-over.
James Hayward, centre manager at Sport Dyson Perrins, said: “Sport Dyson Perrins Leisure Centre has a lot of fantastic facilities available for the whole community to use and what better way to try a new activity or sport than at our free family fun day.
“There is something for everyone.”
There is no need to pre-book to take part in any of the activities.
Freedom Leisure is hosting the day along with support from Malvern Hills District Council, Action For Children, Fortis Living and local clubs.
Coun David Watkins, portfolio holder for healthier communities on Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We know being active has so many benefits for both physical and mental health and this is a great opportunity to try out something new, have fun and maybe discover a new hobby.”
