MALVERN residents who have suffered small injuries are being urged by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust to use the local minor injury unit (MIU).
The Trust has reminded those with small cuts and burns, grazes, sprains, strains and fractures to attend the MIU at the community hospital on Worcester Road in Malvern Link where the waiting time is 20 minutes.
Michelle Clarke, director of nursing and quality at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, said: “The staff at our minor injury units are trained nurses who have knowledge and skills to deal with a range of minor injuries.
“Often people wait hours in A&E with a minor injury which could have been treated at one of our minor injury init’s and with pressure on emergency departments greater this time of year, we are urging people to really think about what the most appropriate options are.”
MIUs do not treat colds, coughs, urine, chest or ear infections.
Anybody with those ailments should call their nearest pharmacy, GP or call NHS on 111.
