RESIDENTS are being urged to express their views on the bus services in Malvern.
Town councillor Martin Lawrence put a motion forward at a recent meeting regarding ‘the fitness for purpose of the bus service’ in the town after concerns were raised over how regularly the service runs.
Controversy has long surrounded the bus routes in Malvern and in June last year more than a dozen routes were saved despite £1.6million in funding cuts from Worcestershire County Council.
Coun Lawrence said: “Our buses are so very important, indeed to those that are isolated, they represent a lifeline.
“Following the public consultation last year, many bus services were saved but many residents tell me of three or four empty buses every ten minutes in Malvern Link and the town centre, while most of Malvern Chase and Fruitlands suffer an average two hourly bus service.
“It is completely bonkers.
“We currently have just one ‘hub’ for bus services in Malvern, Morrisons.
“I strongly recommend a second hub around the little shop opposite the main entrance to Great Malvern Station, this would ensure that the majority of businesses and locations that are key to resident’s lives have regular public transport links to and between them.”
