Malvern residents urged to get their bike security marked

MALVERN cyclists are being urged to get their bike marked with a unique fingerprint at a free event next week.

Organised by Malvern Hills District Council, the Dr Bike workshop will take place next Wednesday from 10am to 12pm at the Council Chamber in Great Malvern.

Dr Bike aims to help prevent bike loss or theft by offering protection with unique security marking which ensures the police are able to trace a bike if it stolen and recovered.

Free MOTs are also on offer to ensure bikes are safe to ride.

Dr Bike day forms part of National Bike Week which takes place from this Saturday to next Sunday and aims to promote cycling as well as demonstrating the social, health and environmental benefits.

Rachel Vann, health and well-being officer for Malvern Hills District Council, said: “This event is a great opportunity for residents to protect their bike and make sure it is in perfect working order ready for those summer outings.

“Bike mechanics will check brakes, tyres, gears and general safety of the bike.

“They will also be on hand to give advice and it is all free, so I would highly recommend anyone to pop along with their bike.”
