MALVERN Rotary Club is on the hunt for teams to sign up for its annual fund-raising pancake race next month.

The event, which will take place in Priory Park on February 20, is now in its 11th year and has become a popular fixture in the club’s calendar.

Macmillan Cancer Support and the End Polo Now campaign are the main beneficiaries this year.

The elite (under-50s) and veterans (over-50s) race, which starts at 12.30pm are the main fund-raisers.

Business entries can allocate 50 per cent of the money raised to a charity of their choice while charities can retain 100 per cent of their sponsorship money.

Teams of four are sought for both races.

They have to negotiate the course while flipping pancakes in a relay format.

Meanwhile, the toddlers event starts at 11.45am with entries welcomed from nursery schools.

All participants will be receive a prize donated by Waitrose.

A rotary club spokesperson said: “Join us to raise funds for your charities whilst taking part in a fun event in the splendour of Priory Park.

“If you wish, fancy dress can be worn as there is a prize for the best dressed team.

“Last year’s event raised more than £3,000 towards our charity goal.

“In addition to Waitrose who have supported us for many years with prizes, we also receive support from Morgan Motors and Malvern Hills District Council.”
