CHRISTMAS has come at Easter for county schools after the Government made funds available to help them build for success.
Four schools in MP Harriett Baldwin’s West Worcestershire constituency have been given extra cash to help carry out much-needed work to help schools maintain their facilities.
Dyson Perrins, Great Malvern Primary, The Chase and Pershore High School have all been made awards from a £435 million fund to help schools which have converted to academies.
The fund – which is supporting 1,276 projects across the country – helps schools carry out projects including new roofing and windows.
Mrs Baldwin said: “Local schools are facing ongoing budgeting challenges as we seek to redress the national funding formula over the next year.
“Headteachers and governors often have to put off major repairs because of budget pressures and this fund helps to allow our high-performing schools to carry out some of these tasks.
“The Condition Improvement Fund has been created to offer schools a little extra help, allow them to concentrate their spending on giving our children the best possible education in the best possible facilities.”
Education Secretary Nicky Morgan said: “Every child should be taught in surroundings which allow them to fulfil their potential, and we have made significant investments in school buildings to ensure this happens.
“The latest funding from the Condition Improvement Fund will help us to build on our progress, so that even more pupils and teachers have access to safe, high-quality classrooms.”
Single academy trusts, smaller multi-academy trusts (MATs) and sixth-form colleges can apply to receive part of the funding.
