A NEW event aiming to provide community projects vital funding returns for its second outing this weekend.
The second Malvern Soup event is to take place on Sunday (December 11) at 3pm at Malvern Town Football Club’s HDAnywhere Community Stadium on Langland Avenue.
The crowd-funding event will have something to appeal to all ages, with a sports coach from Freedom Leisure leading games for kids, music from Dave Kent and plenty of tea and mince pies, as well as home-made soup.
It’s a “pot-luck event” with visitors bringing whatever food they can to share. With a suggested, voluntary entry fee of only £4, it is open to everyone and very affordable.
Malvern Soup promotes local projects, not necessarily charitable but focused in Malvern. The first event raised over £400 for Kaleidoscope, a charity helping disabled children and their families, which received the most votes.
Each project has an opportunity to present its aims and ideas and has the chance to win the takings from the door.
The presentations are very short, each one limited to four minutes only, and visitors can also discuss each project with the presenters. There are no electronic devices, no power point presentations, it is a very simple format in which representatives of Malvern projects talk to the people of Malvern.
“The first event was really successful, with plenty of local support,” says MalvernSoup founder and Malvern resident, Chris Reed. “We think the Football Club is a great community venue with lots of space for children, and a café atmosphere already in place.”
“We’re hoping for another good turnout at the weekend,” says Chris Reed. The event is to be held at Malvern Town Football Club from 3pm to 6pm. “Everyone is welcome. Come along and be part of the soup phenomenon!”
