MORE than £12,000 has been raised by Malvern St James Girls’ School for a town charity which provides clubs and play schemes to children and young people with disabilities.
Malvern Special Families has been given a generous cheque for £12,686.47 following a series of fund-raisers done by the Geraldine Road school to mark their tenth anniversary.
One event included a sponsored walk to the top of the Worcestershire Beacon.
In addition, MSJ had already raised £1,140 earlier in the year which brought the grand total pledged to £13,826.47 – well over their £10,000 target.
Cassie Zoro, Malvern Special Families’ community fund-raiser, said: “£10,000 is an incredible amount of money to aim to fund-raise in a year and the fact MSJ’s target has been smashed so spectacularly is absolutely fantastic.
“This incredible fund-raising total shows that when the community pulls together something truly inspirational can happen.
“It is not everyday you get such a wonderful piece of news for a small charity and it makes me proud to be a part of the Malvern community.
“This money will go such a long way as it will enable us to support more families who have children with special needs as well as ensuring we provide excellent social opportunities for those children.”
