Malvern support group receives Kings Award for Voluntary Service

A MALVERN based support group will receive the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, it has been announced today (November 14).

JIGSAW (Worcestershire Mental Health Relative & Carers Support Group) based in Worcester and Malvern are among 262 local charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups to receive the prestigious award this year.

The organisation was set up in 1996 to promote awareness of mental health services and empowering carers in a safe, confidential, supportive environment.

Jigsaw founder and secretary Sue Nichols said: “We are so grateful and honoured to receive this recognition from King Charles III.

“Our volunteers and Trustees, aim to improve carers health and wellbeing and the resilience to carry on with their vital role.

“Our team devote their time to supporting carers and promoting awareness of mental health services in our community. This award is a testament to their passion and dedication.”




The Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire, Mrs Beatrice Grant will present JIGSAW with their award crystal and certificate, which recognises outstanding work by local volunteer groups to benefit their communities.

The award was created in 2002 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee and, following his accession, His Majesty The King emphasised his desire to continue the Award.


Mrs Beatrice Grant said: “I am absolutely delighted that the work and the services of this inspiring voluntary group provide have been recognised with this prestigious award.

“They do valuable work in their local community, supporting others and helping to make life better for those around them.”

JIGSAW was announced as a recipient alongside nearby Evesham based, Ourside Youth Association – a charity dedicated to helping support young people in the community.

Two volunteers from the group will attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace in May and June 2024, along with other recipients of this year’s Award.
