Malvern taster sessions to give insight into life as a firefighter ahead of HWFRS recruitment drive

Malvern Editorial 19th Jan, 2023 Updated: 20th Jan, 2023   0

RESIDENTS in Malvern and the surrounding areas can get an insight into what it is like to be a firefighter during sessions taking place in the district next week.

The tasters are being held ahead of the start of Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service’s next whole-time firefighter recruitment campaign which launches in the spring.

The sessions offer the opportunity to those with no experience in firefighting. This includes taking part in role-related activities and providing information about the many aspects of a modern firefighter’s role.

Located at Malvern Fire Station, the first session will be held from 5.45pm to 8.45pm next Thursday, January 26.

Two more are planned from 9.45am untl 12.45pm and between 1.45pm and 4.45pm next Satuday, January 28.

HWFRS particularly welcomes individuals from groups currently under-represented in the service, including women and people from ethnic minority backgrounds.

Although the sessions are open to all, these groups will be given priority if places become oversubscribed.

Visit https://www.wmjobs.co.uk/job/148026/firefighter-taster-sessions-2023/ to book a place and to complete an application form.

The service is committed facilitating inclusive recruitment processes and selection is based on performance, skills and merit.

People do not need to attend a session in order to apply for the whole-time firefighter role.
