A YOUNG volunteer from Malvern has been given an award in Princess Diana’s memory.
Christie Hornby was given the Diana Award – set up to honour her belief young people have the power to change the world for the better – for the work she has done with deprived people in the Ukraine.
As well as volunteering at Dyson Perrins CE Academy, where she goes to school, the 17-year-old has also travelled to the Ukraine to help people living in camps to access basic hygiene and literacy skills.
A spokesman said: “We at Dyson Perrins are extremely proud of Christie.
“The Diana Award will encourage her to continue their work and will hopefully inspire others to volunteer in their schools and communities.”
