Malvern Theatre Players set to perform Roald Dahl classic

Malvern Editorial 5th Dec, 2016   0

A ROALD Dahl favourite opens at Malvern’s Coach House Theatre next week starring talent from across the town and surrounding areas.

The cast of his story ‘Danny the Champion of the World’ includes a host of local youngsters from Malvern Theatre Players in this ever popular play for all the family.

Centering on nine year old Danny, who lives happily in a caravan with his father, the play shows Danny’s world turned upside-down when he learns that his father poaches pheasants from the estate of the nasty, greedy Victor Hazell.

One night his father does not return from a poaching run and Danny fears the worst.

Danny sets off on a courageous journey to find his father and, with a little help from the village, soon finds himself masterminding an incredible and exciting plot against the villainous Victor Hazell.

Laughter, drama and audience participation abound in this production by The Malvern Theatre Players. Adapted by David Wood from Roald Dahl’s book, the play was first performed at the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff, in 2004.

Danny the Champion of the World opens at The Coach House Theatre Grange Road, Malvern on Monday (December 12).

Evening performances start at 7pm all week until Saturday, December 17 and then again on Thursday, December 29 and Friday, December 30.

Matinees are at 2.30pm on Saturday, December 17, Saturday, December 31 and Sunday, January 1.
