MALVERN town council are hosting a variety of events this August, writes Mia Sen-Gupta.
A commemorative service for the 80th anniversary of Victory in Japan Day (VJ Day) will be hosted tomorrow (Friday, August 15).
Join them in Victoria Park for a flag raising ceremony at 10am, followed by a reception in the park view community room with a variety of talks, live entertainment and refreshments at 11am.
A one-off special music in the park event will take place on Sunday, August 17, to further commemorate V-J Day, starting at 1pm in Priory Park.
The Minims Musical Theatre choir will kick things off, then Tewkesbury Town Band will perform music of the era, during the brass bands interval at 3.30pm Simon Sole from the U3A military group will give a talk around the events of V-J Day.
This is a free event – simply bring a picnic and something to sit on.
On Saturday, August 23, the annual Mayor’s Bonanza is back at 11.30am to 5pm in Victoria Park.
Don’t miss this entertainment packed day, with something for the whole family to enjoy including new inflatables, live entertainment, a food and drink village, face painting, a mini sports day, a fancy dress competition, live entertainment and much more.
The event will be free to attend, with small charges for some of the activities.
All money raised will be going to Malvern Special Families.
