Malvern Wells Christmas concert raises hundreds for town charity

Malvern Editorial 22nd Dec, 2017   0

A CHRISTMAS concert held in West Malvern on Local Charities Day has been labelled a success after exceeding fund-raising expectations.

Generous donations by members of the community helped the ‘Sing a Song of Christmas’ performance to break the record for the most amount of money raised for charity.

The event, which took place at Malvern Wells village hall, raised more than £250 for Malvern Special Families.

Held on the UK’s National day of celebration of small local charities, the concert was packed full on the night as people emerged after the snow fall and turned up to show their support MSF who support children and young people with disabilities.

The night was a festive feast of music and Christmas readings, with live music from the popular Malvern Wells Singers and Malvern Wells Primary Choir, with festive refreshments and a charity raffle held on the night.

Margaret Buchanan, one of Malvern Special Families charity’s Trustees, said: “It was such a lovely evening and so good to see so many people from the local community getting into the festive spirit.

“Thank you to all of the organisers, singers and everyone who came along and supported the event and were so kind and generous, making it a big fundraising success for our small charity.”

Coun Jackie Smethurst, vice-chairman of Malvern Wells Parish Council, added: “We were delighted when a record amount was raised for their chosen charity at the annual ‘Sing A Song of Christmas’ concert.

“In being so generous, our audience clearly agreed that Malvern Special Families were a richly deserving local cause to support, and we wish them every continued success in their hard work.”
