THE GRAND opening of the new Pets at Home store in Malvern was attended by Councillor Christine O’Donnell, deputy chairman of Malvern Hills District Council.
Coun O’Donnell, who represents the Malvern Wells ward at the district council, officially opened the new store last Friday (April 7) before taking in a guided tour of the facilities including the Groom Room pet salon and Vets4Pets veterinary practice.
The Groom Room at the Malvern Shopping Park provides a wide range of grooming options including microchipping, nail clipping, hair trims and a full bath.
Vets4Pets meanwhile have a new, fully-equipped surgery which houses an operating theatre, digital X-ray facilities, in-house laboratory and a hospital ward providing a wide range of treatments from health checks to emergency operations.
Pets at Home in Malvern is also home to an adoption centre, run by independent charity Support Adoption For Pets, where rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small animals are cared for until a new loving home can be found.
The 8,000 sq. ft. store also features a pet village and an aquatics centre.
Store manager Simon Hughes said: “What a fantastic start. Our opening weekend went even better than we had hoped and it was great to receive Councillor Christine O’Donnell and show them the new amenities that we have on offer at the store.
“Our new store features thousands of dedicated pet products for not only local dogs and cats but small animals, fish and local wildlife too.
“We have also created five jobs for the community across a range of full time and part time positions.”
