Malvern's online planning services given revamp

Malvern Editorial 13th Sep, 2017   0

PLANNING services on the Malvern Hills District Council website have been revamped to bring them up to date and into the digital age.

The whole system has had a complete overhaul to make it more user friendly, more stable, easier to view on mobile devices and include new features which were not previously available.

One of these features is applying for pre-application advice which can be accessed and paid for online.

The new service means all the paperwork and payment can be made directly on the website with no printing or additional waiting time.

Once applied for, the district council aims to provide advice within 15 working days depending on the size of the project, making the process a lot quicker and easier.

Coun Melanie Baker, deputy leader of portfolio holder for planning at the district council, said “Streamlining this service will save residents and officers valuable time.

“Not only will it be quicker to apply for pre-application advice, but it will be more efficient for us to process applications because the whole application process can be dealt with on our website.

“It is also the kind of service customers expect.”

Residents just need to search for a planning application and click ‘Track this app’ before supplying a name and e-mail address.

Then when any updates occur to the application, an automated e-mail will be sent to the account.
