Malvern's rich history explored on new housing development

Malvern Editorial 20th Aug, 2024   0

A KEY part of Malvern’s rich history is now on display as part of a new housing development thanks to its developer.

Persimmon Homes’ Malvern Rise estate is now home to several information boards which detail the history of the site, from the first century AD until today.

The land surrounding the development has a long history of human activity dating to as early as the Bronze age. The boards demonstrate the changes to the site during numerous time periods including the Bronze age, the Roman era and WWII.

The boards were developed in partnership with Malvern Radar and Technology History Society who provided expert local knowledge to the Persimmon team while the boards were being created.

Russell Griffin, managing director of Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said: “What we do is about much more than just building homes, it’s about leaving a lasting positive legacy in the communities that we build in and preserving their history wherever we can.

“Installing these boards at our Malvern Rise development allows us to celebrate the history of the town whilst developing new places to live. The installation will also allow residents and passers-by to learn some more about the development, and what came before.”
