A CHANCE to get creative is on offer for people in the district this weekend at Malvern’s Water and Well Dressing Festival.
The popular festival will begin on Saturday and will end next Sunday, May 12.
It will see more than 50 wells creatively decorated in the theme of ‘Trees’.
The festival will begin with ‘dressing the wells’ tomorrow (Friday) with judging taking place tomorrow.
The winners will then be given rosettes and certificates at a ceremony in Priory Park on Bank Holiday Monday, where the Water Festival Family Fun Day also takes place.
The annual event celebrates the history of the Malvern Hills, including its iconic spring water and Victorian Water Cure.
There will also be plenty of entertainment during the festival including singing, self-guided walks, well blessings, minibus tours, Maypole dancing and street entertainers.
The Spirit of Malvern Painting Competition will also take place at the festival, which sees artists paint outdoors for the day and exhibit their paintings in Priory Park.
Maps of where the wells are located can be downloaded from the Visit The Malverns website or picked up from the Great Malvern Tourist Information Centre on Church Street.
Victoria Carman, Visitor Economy Manager from Malvern Hills District Council said: “We’re really looking forward to the popular festival returning this weekend, it’s a big occasion, last year over 800 people took part in dressing the wells, springs and sprouts.
“We encourage residents and visitors to take a look at the wonderfully decorated wells and pop along to the water festival on Monday for a family fun day out.”
