A MAN has escaped serious injury after he had to be cut out of a car which collided with a wall.

The incident happened about 4.45am on Saturday (June 14) on the Worcester Road at Link Top resulting in part of the street closed off for more than five hours.

Two fire crews from Malvern attended the scene and had to use cutting equipment in order to free the man who was sitting in the back seat of the vehicle.

West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatched an ambulance, rapid response vehicle and a MERIT team consisting of a critical care paramedic and a trauma doctor to the incident.

A service spokesman confirmed it did not appear the man had sustained any severe injuries but was taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital due to the nature of the incident.

Police also attended the scene, and Worcestershire Highways closed part of the road and put in diversion signs between 6.10am and 11.55am while debris was cleared.
