WORCESTERSHIRE County Council’s Social Work Academy was honoured at this year’s University of Worcester Health and Social Care Mentor Awards.

The Social Work Academy team were finalists in the Outstanding Practice Learning Environment Allied Health and Community category and were recognised for their outstanding practice.

Staff were acknowledged for their efforts in effectively communicating, changing plans when needed, and their willingness to be flexible and adaptable.

Academy manager, Helen Stanley said: “The nomination also recognises the invaluable support that the Social Work Academy has received from frontline social work colleagues and Practice Educators in Worcestershire Children First and Worcestershire County Council’s adult social care teams, to facilitate student placements.”

The academy supports newly qualified social workers, social workers and students going into social work careers with their training and continued professional development

Coun Adam Kent, cabinet member with responsibility for Corporate Services and Communication said: “The team should be very proud of this achievement and I look forward to seeing their continued efforts in supporting people in social work, whether it is continued professional development or as a student placement.
