THE MET OFFICE has issued yellow warnings for snow and ice for Malvern and the rest of Worcestershire.
According to the organisation, current forecasts predict snow is heading for the district, particularly on higher ground, starting about 11pm and continuing until 1am tomorrow morning (Friday).
It warns that some travel disruption is likely and there could be difficult driving conditions tomorrow morning.
Worcestershire County Council has confirmed to the Observer, in preparation for tonight’s cold weather, gritters have been out the last couple of nights gritting the main roads.
They are currently gritting secondary routes and the primary routes will be regritted this evening.
Jon Fraser from Worcestershire County Council Highways said: “It will remain clear and be getting colder this evening when the road temperatures could fall to as low as -2°C.
“Then from 8pm, we are expecting a further band of rain, sleet and snow to come over.”
He added there was a good chance it would fall as snow by the time it reaches Worcestershire, with up to 3cm expected.
But, he said, the snowfall could be as high as 6cm in areas which are 100m above ground level and up to 10cm of the white stuff could fall in areas 250m above ground level.
“For the rest of the weekend, we are not expecting anymore snow but it will remain cold and temperatures could drop as low as -4°C
