A MISTLETOE Kissathon will be the special attraction at this year’s annual Mistletoe Festival in Tenbury.
The Tenbury Mistletoe Association will be attempting a Guinness World Record when it takes place on Saturday, December 3 in Tenbury Wells, with activities starting from 11am until 4.30pm.
Organisers will be hoping to go in the record books for the most kisses under a bunch of mistletoe in five hours.
Malvern Hills District Council is supporting the event with a programme packed full of nationally acclaimed storytellers, poets, musicians, visual artists and street entertainers.
Activities include, a sparkling hour of winter fables and snowy stories, the annual Santa Parade, craft and produce stalls and the crowning of this year’s Mistletoe Queen.
The festival also includes an activity zone where you can make your own fairy light stars to wave at Santa with RHS Gold Medal winner, Victoria Westaway.
There will also be a talent spotlight in collaboration with Tenbury Music Festival to discover young local musicians. Successful auditions will perform at the music festival in June next year.
Caroline Palethorpe, one of the festival organisers said: “The mistletoe plant is of great importance to the people of Tenbury and has been associated with this area for centuries. We are really proud of the town’s history and enjoy working together with the community to keep our mistletoe traditions going.
“We are really excited to be holding a new feature this year with our Mistletoe Kissathon and hope to make a new world record. The festival is a wonderful day out for all ages and we hope everyone enjoys everything this wonderful event has to offer.”
Phil Grove, Leader of Malvern Hills District Council added: “The Mistletoe Festival is always a great start to the festive season, with lots of unique activities for all to enjoy, it will be a welcome boost to local businesses at what is a busy time of the year.”
