'Monster' bargain hunt gets on TV

Malvern Editorial 29th May, 2015 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

THOUSANDS of people flocked to Malvern to get themselves a bargain at the town’s flea and collectors fair.

The event, which was held on Bank Holiday Monday (May 25), saw about 700 exhibitors, which came from as far as France and Holland, set up their stalls at the Three Counties Showground.

Items on sale ranged from antiques to house clearance, including garden furniture, dining goods and linen, which were snapped up by visitors along with competitors from TV hit show Bargain Hunt.

Helen Martin, director for B2B Events, which organised the fair, said Malvern was becoming a ‘monster’ due to the amount of people who were turning out.

“It was really busy,” she said. “We are still working through the figures, but we think we had a record attendance for outside pitchers. We were full in both buildings, so we reckon we got around 700 exhibitors in total.

“People are coming from as far as France and Holland to exhibit and we are also getting some very good trade buyers travelling here.

“Some of the dealers did extremely well. In fact, two or three of them had their best ever Malvern Flea Fair.

“We have got a very good vintage following now as well and what I did noticed was how many young people were walking around which was very encouraging to see.

“We don’t get much feedback from visitors, but we certainly did not get any complaints, which means it must have gone down well.”
