More than £3,000 raised for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven after successful Malvern Hills piano push

MORE than £3,000 has been raised by a team of adventurers after successfully pushing a 500lb piano to the top of the Malvern Hills in just four hours.

The mixed group made up of staff from Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Council as well as members of Malvern Male Voice Choir as well as a few friends, pushed the piano from Great Malvern town centre all the way to the top of the Worcestershire Beacon on Saturday.

The quirky fund-raiser raised vital funds for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven, in aid of colleague Nicky Stevens who was diagnosed with the disease shortly before Christmas last year.

Dressed as Victorian adventurers, the team stopped at several locations along the way for short performances of piano and voice for the public to enjoy, including performances from the Malvern Male Voice Choir.

Chris Lewis-Farley, landscape officer from Malvern Hills District Council said: “We had a fantastic day, with overwhelming support from the public.

“We all worked together with enthusiasm and commitment, and I’d like to thank everyone for all their support and generous donations for such a worthy cause.

“It has been an amazing experience.”
