POLICE have advised motorists to avoid a busy part of Great Malvern because temporary road works are causing traffic chaos.
Malvern police officers said drivers should avoid using the Graham Road junction with Church Street at busy periods if possible.
Temporary traffic lights are currently installed at the junction so ‘essential refurbishment’ of the permananent signs can take place.
The work is expected to take place for around five weeks.
A tweet from Malvern Cops reads: “The four way temporary lights on Church Street/Graham Road is causing a significant build up of traffic. Avoid if you can.”
Coun Marcus Hart, responsible for Highways at Worcestershire County Council, said: “These works are an essential refurbishment of the current permanent traffic signals at this junction, to ultimately improve efficiency, pedestrian safety and to replace old equipment.
“The works are scheduled to take place over five weeks, and will be reduced from 4-way to 2-way most evenings where possible.”
