MP welcomes improvements to rail services

PLANS to deliver improved rail services linking Worcestershire and London have been welcomed by Malvern’s MP.

Harriett Baldwin met with rail minister Claire Perry, along with representatives of train operating companies, last Wednesday (September 15) to discuss progress on planned railway schemes.

An update was given on the progress of an improved service along the Cotswold Line.

Mrs Baldwin, West Worcestershire MP, and Westminster colleagues from Hereford to Oxford have joined forces to call for faster, more frequent and more reliable trains to and from Oxford and London.

“We all agree the long term aspiration must be the dualling of more sections of the line, many more services and the significant reduction of journey times to London,” she said.

“I and my Westminster colleagues will continue to scrutinise the rail companies’ progress and hope our efforts will lead to a significant improvement for commuters.”
