MP welcomes Lloyds Bank's pledge to 'keep cash machine in Upton'

A DECISION has been taken by Lloyds Bank to keep a 24-hour cash machine in Upton-upon-Severn.

Since the bank’s closure in 2017 people have still been able to withdraw money but there were fears it may be taken away.

But the bank has made a five-year commitment to keeping the machine where it is.

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin who has held several meetings with Lloyds welcomed the news, calling the machine ‘an important service for local people and visiting tourists’.

She said: “I felt it was important to get a long-term commitment from the bank regarding the cashpoint and I am pleased with their decision to keep the machine where it is.

“Thousands of people will visit the town to come and enjoy the riverside pubs, shop and enjoy one of the many popular music festivals so having a permanent 24 hour a day cash machine is vital to keep the local economy strong.”

Residents have also been able to access services at a Lloyds mobile branch and customers are still able to bank at the town’s post office.
