MP welcomes the completion of major works on two key bridges in Pendock

TWO BRIDGES are set to reopen as major roadworks reach their conclusion.

The Queen’s Arms bridge on the outskirts of the Pendock is expected to fully re-open this weekend after more than a year of road closures and the bridge at Bury Court is planned to re-open on July 24.

The re-opening forms part of the end of road closures as Highways England carries out urgent repair works on bridges along the M50 motorway.

The community has suffered from a series of road closures dating back to 2015 and last year MP Harriett Baldwin held meetings with Highway England and community representatives in the village to try and reduce the impact of the work on the local school and village store.

Work has continued throughout the Covid-19 crisis and further road closures will be lifted over the coming weeks.

Harriett said: “The local community in Pendock has had to suffer years of road closures and diversions as Highways England carries out urgent repairs on the bridges along the M50.

“It’s a 60-year-old motorway so there its inevitable that work will be necessary but I have been concerned at how much of an impact this has had on local people and local road-users.

“I am glad to hear that work has not been held up by coronavirus and hope that the team is able to keep to its schedule as it completes the work along the M50.”
