FIREFIGHTERS rushed to the Malvern Hills to tackle a fire which broke out yesterday (Monday) afternoon.
Hereford and Worcester Fire & Rescue Service (HWFRS) was called at 3.22pm to attend an established fire in a difficult location around Earnslaw Quarry.
Six fire engines and crews from Malvern, Worcester, Upton, Droitwich, Whitchurch, Ledbury, and Ross-on-Wye attended as well as two restricted access vehicles and a water carrier.
The fire crews attempted to make fire breaks in the 400sqm area to reduce to the spread of the fire in turbulent wind conditions.
Three fire crews are still at the site today (Tuesday).
It is understood a disposable BBQ caused the fire.
HWFRS has responded to 17 grass fires across the two counties in the last two weeks.
