THERE will be music in the air at the magnificent 12th century St Mary’s Church in Hanley Castle when a special soiree takes place at 7pm on Saturday, May 18.

The event, at one of the oldest buildings in the village, will raise funds for the Friends of St Mary’s Church, who dedicate their work to the preservation and maintenance of the church and it’s grounds.

Local Sopranos Lyn Rimell and Jayne Swann will take centre stage, accompanied by flautists Melanie Weston and Marion Yeo and accompanist Carole Davies.

The concert will feature show stoppers, light opera and much-loved favourites.

Lyn said: “We are all really looking forward to performing at this special musical evening.

“We have put together a varied programme which we feel will appeal to all tastes. Jayne and I have had great fun choosing and practising.

“The atmosphere this incredible building will create is going to be a wonderful experience both for us singers and the audience.”

Tickets at £10 are available on the door, by emailing [email protected] or from The Three Kings Inn Hanley Castle and Hanley Swan village shop.
