Music marathon on offer at Holy Trinity Church later this month

Malvern Editorial 11th Sep, 2018   0

A MUSIC marathon comes to Malvern Link’s Holy Trinity Church at the end of this month as part of its final efforts to fund-raise for a new organ.

Starting at 10.30am on Saturday, September 29, there will be performances from Vital Spark, Phoenix Singers, The KayJays with Mike Astles, The Trench Choir with its songs from the time of World War One as well as contemporary and world music group Martin Thorne and Company.

There will also be a performance by the handbell group McClean Ringers.

Graham Davies and John Raine will perform on the church’s current organ, with piano and other instrumental music being provided by Elizabeth Tebby Germaine, The Charman Family Players and a new group called Handel with Care.

One of the other attractions for the day will be the singing of Holy Trinity’s Top Ten Hymns at a come and sing session at 3.30pm.

Charles Pavey, director of music at Holy Trinity, has also invited some of his current and former students to perform.

“We have been overwhelmed with support for the Organ Project and the Music Marathon will showcase a stunning spectrum of music performed by many people who are willing to offer their time and talent,” he said.

“There will be a considerable variety of music from many countries across several centuries, all in one place.”

Admission costs £3 for one performance or £10 all day while those aged 18 and under gain free entry.
