A NEW drop-in support service has been launched in Malvern for young people aged up to the age of 25.
The service – operated by The Basement Project – takes place between 12.30pm and 2.30pm every Tuesday at the Malvern Cube.
There, young people can get advice on a variety of issues from experienced support workers.
Among them are housing problems, budgeting and debt, accessing benefits, job search and employment, mediation and relationships, drug and alcohol problems and any others.
The Basement Project is working in partnership with a range of local organisations, including Worcestershire County Council, housing associations, youth clubs, mental health professionals and social workers.
It means staff are well-placed to introduce young people to specific organisations which can provide further assistance, widening the scoop of specialist support available in the district.
Jerry Robinson, The Basement Project CEO, said: “We have been providing support for young people in North Worcestershire for over 20-years and are delighted to now further our reach into South Worcestershire.”
He added early intervention could make a huge difference in creating a foundation for young people to achieve and maintain independence.
“Our work is pivotal – helping to change lives for the better and for the long term.
“Collectively our support staff have over 100 years’ experience of working with young people.
“They are well placed to offer the advice and practical help needed to help people overcome the challenges they are experiencing.”
