A BRAND new event – The Great Malvern Festival of Stories – will be coming to the district next month, writes Holly Clement.

Activities for children will take place at a number of venues from October 20 to 23 including workshops with a line-up of renowned authors, such as Horrible Histories illustrator Martin Brown and Jonny Duddle who provided the pictures for Harry Potter.

Malvern Hills District Council has partnered with Boffy Arts and Events to form the festival – a celebration of stories that also boasts puppet theatre by Lempen Puppetts, Indigo Moon Puppet Theatre and Sealegs Puppets.

There will be author signed copies of books for sale, a travelling music box from Worcestershire and a window trail for the children, with a prize book voucher.

The event is predominately for Malvern schools but on the Saturday and Sunday the programme will be open to everyone.

Malvern Hills District Council said it was really proud to launch this new festival as listening to stories played such an important role in children’s lives and contributed vital skills needed for the future.

Taking part in several locations throughout Great Malvern, including The Lyttelton Well, The Coach House Theatre, The Cube and Malvern Library. There is a spot for everyone.
