RARE pieces of artwork which have been restored to their former glory are on show at Malvern Library as part of a new exhibition.

‘Malvern through the Centuries’ features numerous paintings and prints tracking how Malvern has changed over the years from a rural idyll based around a Benedictine monastery to a thriving spa town.

The exhibition started last Friday and runs until June 28 at the library on Graham Road.

It features includes several pieces of artwork which have not been displayed in public for some time due to their poor condition.

These have now been lovingly restored and reframed, thanks to the Heritage Lottery funded Great Malvern: Route to the Hills project.

Coun David Watkins, portfolio holder for housing and communities on Malvern Hills District Council, said: “This exhibition not only features some beautiful pieces of artwork but offers a fascinating insight into how Malvern has changed over time.”

The exhibition is free to view during the library’s normal opening times.
