NATIONAL Trust bosses at Croome have taken the wraps off a new exhibition by Worcester-based artist Jilly Oxlade-Arnott to celebrate 125 years of the environmental and heritage charity.

‘Acorn to Oak’ is a collection of more than 40 works by the artist and is a celebration of the magnificent buildings and architectural heritage still in existence due to the continued conservation work of the National Trust.

The brand new collection, especially created for the exhibition, depicts some of the National Trust’s most popular and inspiring buildings alongside other new paintings and a selection of bold pop-art inspired works.

“It is with the utmost pleasure I have been asked to create a wonderful new collection for the National Trust, in celebration of their 125 years,” Jilly said.

“The initial 12 works of the collection include some iconic properties, all of which have fascinating back stories. A further 12 will be created during the year, together with a number of new works from my previously unreleased Birmingham and Cheltenham collections and the ever popular pop art canvasses.

“I want to help show the projects the National Trust deliver daily in the protection of some of our most historic structures since 1896,” she added.

Amy Forster-Smith from Croome said: “Her ink and watercolours of local buildings are always very popular and we’re excited to be able to tie this exhibition into the 125 year anniversary of the National Trust which is a significant milestone for the organisation.

“We are thrilled Jilly’s showcase features some iconic National Trust buildings include our sister property the Fleece Inn and our neighbour Hanbury Hall, amongst others from further afield.”

‘Acorn to Oak’ will be displayed until the Trust’s anniversary in January 2021 and visitors can meet Jilly on one of her ‘artist-in-situ’ day to discuss her painting and understand the inspiration behind the subjects.

She will at Croome between 11am and 4pm on February 7 and 22, March 5 and 21, April 8,17 and 28 and on May 14 and 27.
