Malvern Editorial 18th May, 2023   0

BUSINESSES in Malvern can apply for grants of up to £5,000 to aid tourism growth and increase visitor numbers to the region.

The Malvern Hills Tourism Grant Scheme, from Malvern Hills District Council, is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and requires businesses to make a ‘cash’ match funding contribution of at least 50% towards the cost of the proposed project.

The grants aim to encourage businesses to adopt greener practices, help with upkeep of local attractions, improve visitor experience and accessibility and encourage festival and event development.

Under the scheme, eligible businesses can apply for up to £5,000 for cultural and heritage attractions in need of repair or restoration or to put towards feasibility study for improving visitor experience.

Attractions and event venues can apply for up to £2,500 for projects to improve visitor experience, increase visitor numbers or to improve accessibility for visitors with disabilities.

Tourism and hospitality organisations can apply for up to £2,500 towards improving green business practices and town centre festival organisers can apply for up to £1,000 to assist with festival development activities.

Eligible business include local museums, visitor centres, theatres, local attractions, accommodation and hospitality venues and town centre festival and event organisers.
