New independent business ventures to boost economy in Malvern and surrounding towns

INDEPENDENT business ventures continue to pop up around the Malvern Hills District as the region appears to be thriving despite the current financial climate.

Rural locations and popular towns within the district including Tenbury Wells, Great Malvern and Upton upon Severn, are brimming with new businesses, cuisines and events thanks to 16 new ventures.

Residents and visitors now have more to enjoy around the district, including the new Malvern Food and Drink Festival at the Three Counties Showground, mini golf at Cafe No.8 in Upton upon Severn and Happy Bike, a bicycle and e-bike hire in Great Malvern.

Other new business ventures include Malvern Coffee Culture, Rossiter Books and Alturo Lounge Cafe Bar in Great Malvern, Thai restaurant, The Plume of Feathers in Castlemorton and Garland Flowers florist in Tenbury Wells.

The region also looks set to benefit from more soon to open ventures including a redevelopment of Malvern Theatres and a swathe of new eateries popping up such as Hillbilly’s in Malvern Link and The Fig Deli, Alturo Lounge restaurant and The Lantern at The Mount Pleasant in Great Malvern.

Councillor Beverley Nielsen, portfolio holder for economic development and tourism at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “It’s such great news to see so many new businesses opening up within the district, especially in the current climate.




“We are committed to supporting businesses and the growth of the economy in the Malvern Hills District, and it is great to see it flourishing.”

The council are encouraging any new tourism, hospitality and retail businesses operating in the Malvern Hills District to contact [email protected], so they can be included on the What’s New list on the Visit The Malverns website.


Also available is the Malvern Hills Tourism Grant Scheme and the Town Centre Support Grant Scheme, funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

These grant schemes aim to support investment by independent traders within the five town centres and encourage development of tourism and hospitality businesses across the Malvern Hills district.
