New information signs erected at Memorial Wood as wildlife improvement works continue

Malvern Editorial 21st Sep, 2023   0

NEW information signs have been erected in Malvern’s Memorial Wood as part of the councils plans to renovate and increase the biodiversity of the site.

The wooden monolith style signs, made from solid green oak, were produced by Malvern based PB Signs and will give visitors an idea of the history and local wildlife of the area.

The project was supported by Malvern Hills District Council (MHDC) and Malvern Community Forest charity.

MHDC received grant funding from Natural Networks in January to diversify and enhance the habitats on site.

Located near Malvern Retail Park, the woodland is designed to serve the community as a memorial area for those who lost loved ones during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Malvern Community Forest charity are now calling for volunteers to help out with works at the site such as planting bulbs and wildflowers, removing non-native species and tree works including removing deadwood.

Willing participants can volunteer on October 7, November 4, December 2 and January 6, 2024 from 10am to 1pm.
