WORCESTERSHIRE-based Jazz dynasty Len, Betty and Neil Thwaites are restarting their Jazz Club in Malvern this Sunday, October 3.

The new-look night will be known as ‘Jazz, Blues and Swing at The Cube’ with doors opening at 7pm and the band playing from 8pm to 10.30pm (including an interval.

The club was originally set up in June 1995 with the first sessions were held at ‘The Railway Inn’ Malvern Wells.

Enjoying an unbroken 25 year run at various locations in Malvern, the pandemic put a halt to proceedings in 2020.

Len Thwaites is a long standing stalwart of the UK Jazz scene, and over the years his swinging bass featured in the bands of Bob Wallis, Alex Welsh, Monty Sunshine and many others.

He said: “We can’t wait to get started again – this time around we’re expanding our offering to include Jazz, Blues and Swing.

“We think this will be appealing to a wider base of live music fans and we’re hoping to attract new concert goers to complement our existing loyal followers.

“We’ve got a top class and varied line-up through to the end of the year, with major announcements to come of great bands to feature at the club in 2022.”

Treasurer Neil added: “We’re indebted to Nicola and her loyal team at ‘The Cube’ – their help has been invaluable with our re-location to this wonderful community facility.

“As a ‘not for profit’ organisation all our financial resources will be put towards staging enjoyable evenings of live music for listeners and dancers alike.

“For the first time since we started back in 1995, we now have everything we need for a great night out – plenty of room for all including an area for dancers, a stage for the band, licensed bar and good parking.

At the first event at The Cube will be top Midlands singer Sheila Fawkes and her Café Jazz Orchestra.

Doors open at 7pm, band will play from 8pm to 10.30pm (including interval).

Admission is £10 on the door.
