New ladies' choir in Malvern gets 'overwhelming response'

A BRAND new ladies’ choir has launched in Malvern under the musical direction of a well-known councillor and musician.

More than 50 ladies attended the first rehearsal last Tuesday evening.

Coun Tom Wells said he was very excited by the project which brought women of all musical abilities together to sing for an hour.

“Singing promotes such a strong sense of physical and mental well-being.”

He urged anyone who had thought about joining a choir to go along for a free taster session, adding the group placed emphasis on having a good sing and some fun along the way.

“Experienced singers would also be very welcome and we shall be exploring many different styles of music.

“Whether you are an accomplished musician, or a complete novice, you would be most welcome to come along to join the sisterhood.”

“The choir meets on Tuesday evenings in Callow End School from 7pm to 8pm.

Admission, which is £4-a-session, covers the cost of music, hire of the school and payment to the accompanist.
