New Malvern book has natural appeal

Malvern Editorial 12th Nov, 2017   0

A BOOK celebrating nature on the Malvern Hills is set to be published.

The Malvern Hills Trust, formerly the Conservators, has been working closely with nature experts to put together the first book compiling all the natural aspects of the ‘Malverns’ from the Pied Flycatcher to the Pink Waxcap and from Goblin Gold to the Grayling butterfly.

‘The Nature of Malvern’ will be available in shops next year.

The foreword has been produced by writer and broadcaster Brett Westwood while the rest of the book has been written by the county’s nature experts with pictures supplied by the area’s photographers.

Conservation manager Jonathan Bills said: “The Malvern Hills Trust is very excited about being involved with the production of the forthcoming book ‘The Nature of Malvern’.

“As well as being rich in wildlife, the hills are rich in wildlife experts who are contributing to what will be an epic and attractive account of the Malvern’s creatures, plants and their habitats, from ancient oaks to jewel-like butterflies.

“Co-funding and championing this book is a great way for the trust to highlight how special and fragile the hills and commons are.”

A pre-publication deal with £10 off the published price is available with all proceeds going towards wildlife conservation on the hills and commons.
